5 Morning Routines for Success

The start of a new academic year is fast approaching. Get some good morning habits in place now, and make the most out of your day, every day:

One – Exercise

A key benefit of exercising in the morning is the boost of energy you’ll feel throughout the day, as well as improving your mood to tackle the tasks ahead. Getting your exercise out of the way first thing means that there will be fewer distractions to stop you from following through with your exercise plan.

Plus, if you start the day this way, you are more likely to make better choices throughout the day, such as eating better and choosing the stairs over the lift.

Two – Eat Breakfast

We’re sure you’ve heard the saying that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Making sure to eat breakfast will improve your energy levels and your ability to concentrate. Plus, if you eat breakfast at home, it can help you to stay within your budget by stopping you from picking up expensive food on the go.

Three – Review to-do List

Review the things on your to-do list and decide what tasks you will tackle in the day ahead. Without doing so, it’s likely to play on your mind that you have a lot of things to do; getting in to this habit will stop you from feeling overwhelmed and keep things manageable.

Four – Stop Hitting Snooze

Hitting snooze on your alarm can make you feel more sluggish. It’s likely that your alarm is going off at a time when you are having REM sleep, one of the most restorative stages of sleep, so those extra 10 minutes you get from pressing snooze aren’t productive sleep but interrupted rest that will leave you feeling groggy.

Five – Make Your Bed

Completing a small task like making your bed will help you feel like you’ve accomplished something right from the get-go. Plus, if you’ve had a long day, coming home to a bed that looks inviting will be something you’ll thank yourself for!
