A guide to Sheffield’s best dessert spots
Jan 21, 2020
It’s January, it’s cold outside, and everyone is on a post-Christmas health kick. But if you’re feeling the time is right for a delicious treat to keep your spirits up through these winter months, then look no further. I’ve put together some of the best choices of desserts available in Sheffield.
Café Godiva
Meadowhall, S9 1EN
Offers vegetarian options
I am a complete chocolate fiend and Café Godiva is everything you could ever imagine. Proudly providing Belgian chocolate artistry for over 90 years, you can get the luxurious smooth Godiva chocolate in many forms, plus intricate beautiful desserts that feel incredibly indulgent. With Croissants to Petit Gateau desserts, you can even have a chocolate afternoon tea if you’re looking something extra special. Plus, you can shop the Godiva chocolate collection for some take home treats too
Sundaes Gelato
262 Glossop Road, S10 2HS
Sundaes Gelato is a proper traditional dessert parlour. It gives me real 60s vibes with the dessert booths, an absolute plethora of ice cream choices, plus so much more from waffles to crepes, cookie dough to delicious cake choices. Wash it all down with creamy rich milkshakes or a nostalgic coke float and you’ll be in an absolute bliss. It can get pretty busy, so give yourself plenty of time to take everything in.
The Cabin Pancake and Waffle House
20-24 Fitzwilliam Gate, S1 4JH
Great for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options
Sometimes you don’t want a huge menu, you just want absolute quality and that’s when you should visit the Cabin. Specialising in Pancakes and Waffles, it’s absolutely delicious. Choose your base of 3 pancakes (available as vegan, gluten-free or dairy free too) or a mega waffle (available as gluten free). Choose your toppings from a wide selection including healthier fruit options and even savoury options if that’s your thing. Accompany this with milkshakes made with Our Cow Molly ice-cream, fruit smoothies, coke floats or delicious hot drinks and just drink up the ambience.
Elly Joy
Cutlery Works, S3 8AT
Good choice for vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options
The EllyJoy brand offers ‘guilt-free’ amazing desserts. Sweet treats with deliciously simple plant-based ingredients. If you’re vegan or follow a gluten-free diet, then Elly Joy is going to be your new home. Everything is so beautifully crafted with a focus on treats but in a much healthier way using ice cream alternative Froconut, a doughnot and even homemade salted caramel brownies. One of my favourite places in Sheffield no doubt about it.
Rassams Creamery
London Road, S2 4LA
Rassams is probably my most used dessert parlour in Sheffield, purely because they deliver and I can enjoy the amazing desserts without even stepping out of my house (lazy I know!) They make the most amazing cookie dough and waffles. My favourite dessert – which we definitely share because it’s insane – is a Belgian waffle topped with a piece of chocolate fudge cake and all the fudgy sauce – absolutely delicious and I’ve been known to have dessert for a meal just to have this!
