FAQs

The Buildings

What communal spaces are there to enjoy?

While it’s great to retreat to the comfort of your private studio, it’s also really important to us that you have lots of comfortable spaces to enjoy with friends. We offer a variety of great communal spaces where you can relax and get to know your neighbours and make new friends.

Check out the individual property pages for full information, but you can expect to enjoy fully-fitted communal kitchens, gyms, cinema rooms, and games rooms, allowing you to enjoy a balance between studying, work, health, and fun.

You’ll also be able to enjoy a fully inclusive and free-of-charge social calendar – you can view the upcoming events here and sign up through your online student portal at any time.

Are overnight guests allowed to stay?

Overnight guests are permitted at Nurtur buildings. We ask that you respect our rule of welcoming guests for no more than three consecutive days.

Please note that you are responsible for any guests, including liability for any charges as a result of damages to the building caused by your guest.

Are my bills included in the rent?

Yes, all bills are included in the cost of your weekly rent so you don’t have to worry about budgeting for those. These include:

  • Electricity
  • Water
  • Contents insurance
  • High-speed broadband
  • Onsite gym membership
  • Bike Store
  • 24/7 reception service
Can I swap/change my room?

Prior to signing your tenancy agreement, it may be possible to change the room you have selected, if a different room is available.

After you have signed your tenancy agreement, if you wish to change room and a room is available, it may be possible, however as you are making changes to your signed tenancy agreement, it would fall under the cancellation policy/tenancy transfer.  Please note there will also be an admin and cleaning fee associated with the room move.

Please speak to a member of your site team and we will always be willing to try and help.

What if I have a disability or special requirements?

Nurtur Student Living’s top priority is making sure you have a comfortable and safe stay with us – please share any medical information or disabilities with us on your booking application. We have a selection of accessible rooms available, so please ensure you request this room type (DDA) and let us know of any further requirements so we can ensure your studio is suitable.

Can I have a dual occupancy tenancy?

A dual occupancy is one tenancy for two people, living in one studio. This means that two occupants are sharing one studio and splitting the cost of the rent.

This is an option on the majority of our studios – look out for the dual occupancy logo. From September 2023, there is an additional charge for a room with dual occupants; this is to cover the cost of the increased services used within the building during your stay.

Booking

How do I make an online booking?

It’s easy to complete an online booking with us. From our website homepage, click ‘Book a studio’, and then select your location.

From here, there are some choices for you to make:

  • Choose your studio type – e.g., Classic+
  • Choose your tenancy length – e.g., 51 weeks
  • Choose your payment terms – e.g., annually/instalments
  • Select yes/no for dual occupancy
  • Choose your floor preference – e.g., floor 2
  • Choose your view preference – e.g., south facing
  • Select ‘Book this room’

If you wish to make any changes to your booking during this time, you can do so by selecting ‘Change my selections’.

You have 30 minutes to complete your booking before the studio will be released. Once you’ve completed the steps above:

  • Complete your booking details on the next page, such as name and current address
  • Read through the terms and conditions of your booking carefully, and then click accept
  • Finally, select ‘Confirm your booking’

You will then receive an automated email from us with information on the next steps.

When is my booking secure?

Once you have signed the Assured Shorthold Tenancy Agreement and paid your Advance Rent (where applicable) your booking is secure with Nurtur Student Living.

Please note: If you are paying by instalments and require a guarantor, they must also sign the Guarantor Agreement to secure and complete the booking before it is secure.

Do I need a guarantor?

If you are paying your rent in instalments, you are required to assign a UK-based guarantor to secure and complete your booking.

To assign a guarantor, the following criteria must be met in full to be accepted:

  • Be a resident in the UK for a minimum of one year
  • Be a homeowner, or in full-time employment
    or
  • Be a Guarantor Service, such as Housing Hand, etc.

We may ask your guarantor to provide us with:

  • A mortgage statement, or 3 latest pay slips
  • A copy of a photo ID such as a passport, driving licence, or ID badge
  • A copy of proof of UK address which must be less than 3 months old such as a utility bill (e.g., electric, gas, water, telephone), a bank statement, or a council tax bill.

If you do not have a UK guarantor, you must pay your rent in one instalment at the start of your tenancy agreement. Alternatively, we can recommend a third-party company that can source a UK guarantor on your behalf. Should you wish to use a third-party company, please note that they are in no way affiliated with Nurtur Student Living.

How does my guarantor sign the agreement?

Once you have accepted the terms and conditions and confirmed your booking, your guarantor must do the same to secure and complete the booking.

  • Ask your guarantor to check their inbox – there will be an email from us with a link to their guarantor agreement
  • Your guarantor must read through the terms and conditions of the agreement and sign it
  • Once we have received the above, your booking is now complete

Please note, if you are paying your rent annually, you are not required to assign a guarantor and do not need to complete this step to secure and complete your booking.
