Five new year’s resolutions for students
Dec 1, 2020
Did you know that of those people who set themselves a New Year’s Resolution, only 9.2%* actually stick to it? That’s not a very motivational statistic to go by if you’re considering making one yourself, so let’s find some ways to help you see your goal through.
Firstly, you need to find a goal that is not only realistic, but one that you really want to achieve as that is where all your motivation will come from.
Here are some suggestions that are easily achievable, and can positively impact your student life:
Attend all seminars and lectures
It can be hard to make those early morning seminars, especially when it’s dark and gloomy outside. But think ahead… attending all your seminars and lectures can mean that you can enjoy a summer free to do as you please, and not catching up on missed education.
Finetune your sleeping pattern
Getting yourself into a routine with your sleeping pattern can have a good impact all around. Not only will you find it easier to wake up on time, but you’ll have more energy.
Join a club or find a hobby
Finding something to focus on outside of your studies can be a great way to unwind. Often, having a way to let off steam and focus your brain on something else can help when you return to your laptop to knock out that essay.
Create a cleaning schedule
‘Tidy house, tidy mind’. You’ll often feel better after you’ve cleaned your studio, but sometimes it can be hard to find the motivation to start in the first place. Breaking down the jobs you need to do can make it seem less overwhelming; you might find this Nurtur House cleaning guide useful: https://nurturstudentliving.com/keeping-your-studio-at-nurtur-house-clean/
Eat better
Getting your diet back on track is important, especially when you need to fuel your brain for all that studying. Make it your goal to cook more homemade meals and rely less on takeaway apps. You could be more specific with this goal, such as resolving to eat 5 fruit & veg and drink 8 glasses of water each day.
Keen to get going? You don’t need to wait until January, why not get started right away.
