National Allotments Weeks 2022

It’s National Allotments Week, and this year’s theme is Bugs, Bees, and Broccoli.

What is National Allotments Week?

National Allotment Week celebrates how important allotments and other open spaces are for you and your local community. They bring people together through a shared love of low-cost, healthy fresh fruit and vegetables, physical exercise, and social interaction

Green-fingered Ross

Did you know that our building manager in Preston, Ross has his very own allotment plot?

Ross enjoys growing all sorts, from spuds and courgettes to roses and pumpkins.

Of his hobby, Ross said: “I’ve enjoyed tending to my allotment for a few years now. It can be a great escape from busy life.

“I’m currently nurturing the ‘holy trinity – a perfect companion of corn, gourds, and legumes which love to be grown together as they all take different nutrients from the soil and provide other nutrients for other plants.

“My friend and I have also been enjoying making different jams. We’ve got lots of it now so keep your eye out in the social spaces for some jars of the good stuff!”
