Nurtur’s Treebilee Celebrations
Jun 2, 2022
In the same week that Chinese celebrations for Dragon Boat Festival took place, the UK celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee!
We enjoy all kinds of cultural events at Nurtur, and this was the perfect opportunity to bring two together for one big celebration.
Nurtur students enjoyed some tasty Chinese food for lunch, before heading outside for the Plant-a-Tree ceremony.
In true Princes Charles style, the Nurtur Team led the Treebilee tradition of a beautiful magnolia tree⦠with a little help from residents who wanted a turn with the spade (shout out to you, Kamil!).
In Chinese culture, magnolia trees are said to symbolise purity and nobility, as well as being known for its healing powers.
Nurtur students rounded off the bank holiday celebrations with some delicious afternoon tea, including homemade scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream. Yum!
You can read more about Prince Charles’ initiative to encourage people to ‘plant a tree for the jubilee’ here.
