Student Living Spotlight: Preston
Feb 10, 2022
Students at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) live in the city of Preston – the location of Nurtur’s student accommodation, Canterbury Hall. UCLan is one of the largest universities in the UK, with nearly 40,000 students and staff.
Canterbury Hall is located on Garstang Road, just a few minutes’ walk from campus. It’s also conveniently located just a 6-minute walk from a supermarket, and it’s great for transport links with a bus stop on the doorstep and parking adjacent to the building available for Nurtur residents.
But what else does Preston have to offer? Well, it’s surrounded by moors and beautiful scenery and has 160 miles of public footpaths for you to get out exploring.
It also has a bustling nightlife with great student deals and some incredible restaurants for eating out. Here are our top 3 recommendations that you MUST try:
- The Moorbrook Pub: With pizzas starting from £6.50, you can get fed, watered, and join the pub quiz for less than a tenner. And it’s just a stone’s throw away from Canterbury Hall.
- Tino’s Restaurant: A 10-minute walk, Tino’s Italian is well-known for its yummy dishes and tasty cocktails. Plus, it’s student-budget-friendly.
- Street Food Preston Ltd: Small in size, but mighty in choice. Choose from Malaysian, kebab, pizza, desserts… Find Street Food Preston on Walker Street, under a 10-minute walk from us.
There are two large shopping centres in the city, St George’s shopping centre and Fishergate shopping centre, which are both less than a 30-minute drive from Canterbury Hall.
Plus, if you fancy a day at the seaside and funfair, there is a Preston bus that takes you to Blackpool in around an hour for less than a tenner!
What more could a student want from a city?
